Belarusian steel mill BMZ's export up 52% in January-September 2021

GOMEL, 4 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian steel mill BMZ exported $1.085 billion worth of products in January-September 2021, $370.9 million up from the same period last year. The growth made up 51.9%, BelTA learned from the company.
In January-September 2021 the company's export accounted for 82.9% of the total in volume terms and 82.8% in value terms.
Steel rods, steel cord, bead bronze wire, and brass-based wire rod enjoyed the greatest demand in foreign markets.
In January-September 2021, BMZ supplied products to 52 countries. “The top five countries with the largest share in exports in January-September were Russia - 22.9%, Lithuania - 12.6%, Poland -12%, Germany - 8.7%, and Israel - 5.4%,” the company said.
This year the plant has been supplying rebar and brass-based wire rod to Kazakhstan. “As part of commodity diversification, the first supplies of brass-based wire rod went to Bulgaria, Malaysia and Morocco, those of cast bars - to Brazil and Moldova, those of steel cord - to Portugal and Canada,” the BMZ added.
In January-September 2021, the BMZ produced 1.929 million tonnes of steel. The growth against January-September 2020 was 2.2%. The output at current prices amounted to Br3.327 billion (up 75.9%). The volume of sold products (after tax) was Br3.382 billion (up 71.3%).
BMZ is a high-tech Belarusian metallurgical enterprise. It comprises infrastructure shops and four manufacturing divisions connected by one technological chain. The divisions focus on steel smelting, mill products, pipe products, hardware items. BMZ exports more than 80% of its output every year.
