Gomel teacher 2nd at Union State competition for best lesson on WWI

GOMEL, 1 august (BelTA) – Teacher from Gomel Yulia Filonenko took second place in the competition on the best history lesson among young teachers, World War One on the map of the Union State. The award ceremony was held at the Moscow Lomonosov State University, BelTA learnt from the Gomel City Hall.

The competition was won by Anna Abasheva from Kaluga with her theme, The Role of the individual in war events. Teacher from Gomel Yulia Filonenko prenseted her work, The City on the Frontline: the History of Gomel in a Big War. The third place was taken by teacher from Bakhchisarai, Crimea Anastasia Skobelskaya with her presentation, World War One: the History of Heroes of the Forgotten War.

The competition was organized by the Union State Permanent Committee and the publishing house Komsomolskaya Pravda. The competition was aimed at the search of new methods of preparing for lessons in history for developing patriotic feelings among the young generation, revealing common historical roots between the Russian and Belarusian people.
