Belarus relaxes requirements for permanent residence permit

24.08.2022

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – Requirements for obtaining a permanent residence permit have been relaxed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Interior Affairs Ministry of Belarus.

The ministry said that the appropriate authorities of Belarus continue to take steps aimed at strengthening good-neighborly relations with citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland. One of them was to waiver visas for residents of neighboring countries. To date, more than 200,000 people have already taken advantage of this opportunity. The next step by the Interior Affairs Ministry, which was agreed with the appropriate government bodies, was to relax the requirements for obtaining a permanent residence permit. This applies to citizens of the neighboring states who have Belarusian roots or who are ethnic Belarusians.

The rules were eased more than a week ago. Since then, citizens of the Baltic states and Poland have submitted over 20 applications for permanent residence in Belarus.
