Molodechno plays host to National Festival of Belarusian Song and Poetry

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) -Molodechno has once again become the host of the National Festival of Belarusian song and poetry. The two-day festival in Molodechno will open on 13 June, BelTA learned from the department of ideology, culture and youth affairs of Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

The National Academic Concert Orchestra conducted by People's Artist of Belarus Mikhail Finberg will open the festival with the 70 Years of Victory program.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Molodechno 2014 song contest. The final round of the contest and an award ceremony will be held on the opening night of the festival.

The Belarusian TV and Radio Company and the Tsitovich National Academic Folk Choir will present their projects at the festival as well. One of the concerts will be held in the town of Chist. The festival will conclude with a gala-concert "45 Years is Just the Beginning" to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Pesnyary group.

The National Festival of Belarusian Song and Poetry Molodechno is one of the five largest festivals that define the cultural identify of modern Belarus.

The first forum was held in 1993. Its idea is to promote Belarusian cultural values, the native language, to popularize the works of Belarusian composers and poets and discover new talents.

The festival is organized by the Culture Ministry, the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Molodechno District Executive Committee, the National Academic Concert Orchestra of Belarus, and the Belarusian TV and Radio Company.
