Why Petrikovsky district

Petrikovsky district is located in the western part of the Gomel region within the boundaries of the Pripyat Polesie at an altitude of 136 m above sea level. It borders on Zhitkovichy, Lyubansky, Lelchitsky, Oktyabrsky, Kalinkovichsky, Mozyr districts. The territory of the district is 2.8 thousand square meters. km. The length of the region from north to south is 62 km, from west to east - 65 km. There are 2 ferry crossings.

According to historical sources, Petrikov has been known since 1523 as a town in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Since 1924 Petrikov has been the center of the district. In 1938 it was awarded the status of a city.

Petrikovshchina is an amazingly picturesque corner of the Belarusian Polesye. Belted by rivers, shrouded in blue mists, it will forever remain in the memory of those who once visited here. Petrikovshchina is the birthplace of the beloved folk hero, the legendary Grandfather Talash.

The Pripyatsky National Park is located on the territory of Zhitkovichy, Petrikovsky and Lelchitsky districts. The bulk of the population employed in the economy of the Petrikovsky district is concentrated in agriculture and forestry (24%), 24% are employed in industry, in construction - 2%, in trade and public catering - 4%, in education - 17%, in healthcare - 15%, in culture - 4%, in other industries - 10%.

In the real sector of the economy of the Petrikovsky district, there are 27 main economic entities, including by types of economic activities: agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 14 business entities, processing industry - 1, construction - 5, retail - 1, supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and conditioned air - 1. 117 business entities operate in the small business sector and 445 individual entrepreneurs operate.

Agriculture forms the basis of production activities, specializing in animal husbandry (cattle), growing grain and fodder crops.

Industrial production in the region is carried out by:

- Branch of the republican production and trade unitary enterprise "Belarustorg", Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus (sawdust fuel pellets) - republican form of ownership;

- Utility production unitary enterprise "Petrikovsky rayzhilkomhoz" (supply of energy resources (heat and electricity, steam and hot water), water supply and wastewater disposal) - communal ownership;

- Petrikovsky mining and processing complex of JSC "Belaruskali" (since August 2020) (production of chemical products) - republican form of ownership.

On the territory of the Petrikovsky district, an investment project of JSC "Belaruskali" is underway "Industrial development of the Petrikovsky potash salt deposit with the construction and commissioning of a mining and processing complex in the Gomel region with a capacity of at least 1.5 million tons of potassium chloride per year and its subsequent operation "(hereinafter referred to as the project), the project implementation period is 2021, the date of reaching the design production capacity is 2023.

Planned result of the project: creation of 1,225 jobs (by reaching the design production capacity), the share of exports in the total volume of sales of products (works, services) - 95.1%.

To develop the social infrastructure of Belaruskali OJSC, a kindergarten for 240 places in the Severny microdistrict in Petrikov and 9 residential buildings were commissioned in 2021 at the expense of the organization's own funds. In 2022, the company plans to build another 60-apartment residential building.

Also, investment activities in the Petrikovsky district will be aimed at the implementation of a number of infrastructure projects, modernization and technical re-equipment of existing enterprises.

Manufacturing, education, healthcare, trade, and public catering will become the key industries for investment in the Petrikovsky district.

In order to attract investments, including direct foreign ones, 6 investment proposals with a total value of USD 141.2 million were prepared. 3 industrial sites have been created, equipped with the necessary infrastructure.

A number of unused real estate objects are offered for investment activities. The information is constantly covered in the media and posted on the official website of the district executive committee and on the Internet in the interactive portal "Investor's Road Map".

In order to search for foreign investors, organizations have drawn up information memorandums about the enterprise, which are posted on the website "Gomeloblimuschestvo" and on the official website of the district executive committee.

Strengths and competitive advantages of Petrikovsky district are:

formed production base in agriculture;

availability of reserves of mineral resources suitable for industrial development;

forest resources, which are a source of raw materials for local industries and an important component of the export potential;
