Mineral resources of the Petrikovsky district are characterized by deposits of rock and potash salts, brown coal, oil shale, peat, chalk, gypsum, brick clays and loams, underground fresh and mineral waters, sapropels. On the territory of the district, 99 peat deposits with total reserves of 61.5 million tons, the Petrikovskoye deposit of potash and rock salts, the Brinevskoye brown coal deposit, three sand deposits with total reserves of 6.28 million m reserves of 31.6 million m3, one source of mineral water.
The total area of Petrikovsky district is 283517 hectares, drained land is 53967 hectares (19%), irrigated land is not, land contaminated with radionuclides is 1780 hectares (0.6%).
The area of the city of Petrikov is 980 hectares;
the area of the urban-type settlement Kopatkevichi - 490 hectares;
the area of rural settlements is 7080 hectares.
56% of the land is occupied by forest. In total, there are about a hundred species of birch, coniferous and oak species.
The Pripyat River with its tributaries Bobrik, Ptich, Tremlya, Ubort flows through the territory of the district. There is a Wild Lake with an area of 69 hectares.
