A large chain of electric vehicle charging stations has been set up in Belarus, with the number of stations past 1,000, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich.

New passenger electrobuses will be put to use in Zhodino. A solemn ceremony to hand over 14 modern MAZ 303E electrobuses to the local mass transit company took place in the city on 28 March. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik took part in it.

Electric transport is one of such areas,” he remarked.

The total number of electric vehicle charging stations in Belarus exceeds 1,000. Thanks to the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the stimulating measures adopted by the head of state and by the government, the number of electric vehicles in Belarus grows higher every year. “I am talking about cars and passenger vehicles for urban transportation. Modern Belarusian electrobuses. They will now operate not only in Minsk and oblast capitals but also in Zhodino and Shklov,” the energy minister added.

In his words, such projects enable more comfortable life for people, contribute to a better environmental situation, and help reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
